Self harm is not attention seeking. It is a persons way of dealing with difficult emotions, it may seem to them like the only way they can survive.
People who self harm do not feel pain |
Pain may not be felt at the very moment of the injury, but afterwards the pain is usually quite obvious to them. People my not enjoy the pain, but as it can feel like such a relief to the sufferer, it may appear as if they do.
Self harm is a suicide attempt gone wrong |
Self harm is a way of surviving, keeping alive, and managing to function from day to day. Some may attempt suicide, but the self harm is a totally separate issue.
