I Will Survive

"I was 11 when I first started self harming. I was harming most days. Eventually I was put in a psychiatric hospital and a year later I was moved to a care home. I haven't overdosed since March (2000) and haven't cut since before September. I am not going to say I have no desire for it because when the nightmares begin again there is always a chance I will, but I take each day as it comes and remember that each day I don't do it is one less scar and one more day I can feel proud of myself. My advice is don't listen to the voice that's telling you to do it. Listen to the voice that tells you you're worth a whole lot more and that you deserve the love that you can give yourself and gain from other people. Take care and remember someone loves you and doesn't want to see you hurt."
